Rhino Project Overview
- Build worlds largest wire rhino sculpture
- Create an awareness campaign to showcase the plight of the rhino
- Create an event for community crafters to show case their work while having a hand in making a difference – PLEASE NOTE that approx 40 crafters from disadvantaged communities are represented in the tent.
- Create partnerships to build a strong campaign
- Create partnerships to create sustainable product sales after the event
- Rhino to travel from the Hermanus Whale Festival to various game reserves to the Kruger National Park where it will be auctioned off.
Progress to date
- Sponsorship from the Cape Craft Design Institute for marquis tent, tent branding and story boards
- Sponsorship from the Hermanus Whale Festival include: space for tent, tent security and including the Rhino Tent in ALL media as a feature for the festival 2011
- Campaign Logo designed by Three Giraffes Graphic Designs
- Guinness World Records – we meet all criteria and challenge is being processed.
- Social Media for the campaign to include: Interactive Facebook page and live web stream images, set up of email campaign and branding of email campaign.
- Media coverage of the project by the Hermanus Times
- Media partnership with the magazine: Life in balance
- Celebrity spoke person: TO BE CONFIRMED
- Sponsorship from StopRhinoPoaching.com to make space available for crafters to sell product through their website to create a sustainable link between income and conservation. They are also working on flying the wire crew to meet Metsi the rhino to give them a perspective for their design. Sponsorship from sculptor John Bassi for a bronze Rhino to be auctioned in a silent auction during the festival AND a wax model to guide the wire crew’s design progress.
